People of Color are allowing created reasons to cloud their mindset when electing officials at the State and Federal levels. Someone recently posted on my timeline we need to learn “our” History so that we don’t repeat the same mistakes/errors in judgment or the decision-making process in the future.
When a Person of Color indicates they would rather vote for a person who has rallied for the execution of innocent men of color, committed adultery, bragged about grabbing women by the “P”, degraded wounded warriors/prisoners-of-war, stated he does not believe he needs to adhere to the U.S. Constitution, and encouraged an insurrection on the United States over a person who many believe is too old to hold the Office of the President, is the greatest example of a clouded mindset.
People of Color need to be reminded that the three-fifths clause in the U.S. Constitution was replaced when the 14th Amendment was approved in 1868 but many Angelo-Saxon American men would like to amend the 14th and 15th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. And many of those Angelo-Saxon American men are members of the Republican Party.
Recently, the Angelo-Saxon Republican men in the TN General Assembly had the opportunity to protect the rights of women, instead, they opted to allow the rider to the State Constitution to kick in once Roe-v-Wade was overturned.
Those same Angelo-Saxon Republican men had the opportunity to enact gun reform, which could prevent another mass killing within the State, and again they made the collective decision to do nothing.
Now, those same Angelo-Saxon Republican men are preparing to decimate our public school system, where most of the students are students of color by rejecting Federal educational funds and approving tax dollars to pay for private schooling of their Angelo-Saxon children under a school choice voucher program.
Angelo-Saxon Republican men will convince you that abortion is “killing” a life. Still, it is the Angelo-Saxon Republican man who voted against extending Medicaid for children (CHIP), has not addressed the youth homelessness problem, and has passed legislation preventing certain groups from being foster parents or adopting children.
Angelo-Saxon Republican men are determined to retain their power (by any means necessary), lessen the rights of People of Color and women in general, and return America to an era where they were the only population in control of every level of government.
Martin Luther King, Jr., gave his famous speech, I Have a Dream when I was eleven years old. As we prepare to celebrate King’s Dream, I encourage all People of Color to take a day (or two), to research and read the History of the American Government. Ponder on the Rights you may lose if Angelo-Saxon Republican men gain control of Congress and the White House in 2024.
